Coaches' Comments
September 11, 2012 - Today the St. Pius X soccer team displayed an excellent effort and sportsmanship, as they went on to the first win of the season. It was nice to be coaching on the sideline, to see the growth of the players, when you have watched the 5th graders playing on the school field and parking lot at recess for the last four years. Now to stand and watch them shine in their first game as an official Middle School Athlete! Look forward to many more goals and proud moments.

I am very happy with the great attitudes of the varsity players. We certainly will face many challenges this year, but I'm sure they'll grow and gain confidence in themselves and be a lot of fun to watch
Happy Thanksgiving and vacation to all - try and do some running and working out if possible during the break and see you on the 28th!
Welcome newcomers to this years team 7th graders Jack Keras and Luke Gavoni / 8th grader Jack Conway.

May 2015 -
I wanted to share the successes from our Middle School athletes:. 6 golfers, 10 Tennis players, and 9 girls softball athletes. On Thursday, April 29th, the SPXS COED Tennis Team played there first tennis meet of the season. The tennis meet split game locations, with the boys playing at St. Francis in Hyannis and the girls playing on the courts at Johnny Kelly Park in Dennis. Coach Bill MacDonald was in Dennis with the 7 girls and I stepped in as asst. coach for the day, with the 3 boys in Hyannis. The three boys tennis players ( all 7th grade ) DJ Marrs, John Paul Rezendes, and Sean Kilty enjoyed the nice spring day playing interscholastic tennis matches, after practicing their skills over the last few weeks. During the tennis match, the St. Francis coach commented on how nice it was to see the encouragement that Sean, DJ, and JP had for each other. As the athletic director at SPXS I was proud to watch the boys play with fine sportsmanship and solid effort during their matches. The boys representation of how a SPXS student athlete demonstrates pride within their after school pursuits, as well academics, but reaches out to the community by altar serving for both school and Sunday masses.

We played a “barn burner” yesterday hanging on for a 35 – 34 win. The girls were so excited to win such a close game! SPXS built a 21 -13 halftime lead and increased it to just shy of 20 points when FA made a furious comeback to get within one. Our girls lost some focus on defense but were able to gather themselves in the final minute to lock down the win. Great lesson to them all. We played everyone, though less minutes as usual for the little ones as they have a game today. Ashlin Enright played her best game and was the difference. She found herself in foul trouble and when she was not on the court we suffered. Our front court Ashleigh Reen, Caitlin Marrs ( a couple of 20 footers!) and Brianna Johnson really gave us a great presence on the boards. Defensively, Aveen O'Brien did an outstanding job disrupting the ability for FA to move the ball freely. This was key to building our lead. And for the icing on the cake we had a couple of points from running our offense ( sort of ) and finding space and open shots.
